Channel 4 is back in the reality TV game with Rise and Fall – a brand new competition that asks the question: what would 16 ordinary people do to gain power?

Hosted by Greg James, the series – which airs nightly on week days – takes its cast to a central London high-rise building and sorts them into the Grafters, who live in the basement and must work to build up the prize pot, and the Rulers, who make leadership decisions and will ultimately win the prize pot.

Created by the makers of The Traitors, we'll watch the contestants climb the ladder of power whilst avoiding being eliminated from the top, with Channel 4 boss Ian Katz describing the format as "a reality version of the movie Parasite".

The series aired on weeknights at 10pm for the rest of the week, but has a slightly changed schedule this week.

It will take a short break this weekend and resume airing on Monday 27th March at 10pm, airing every night through to Thursday at 10pm.

Greg James teased the show at the start of March on Twitter, saying that he was "VERY excited" about the brand new format.

"It’s a game of winning power. So it’s about getting power. Keeping power. Our contestants, 16 of them, are for all walks of life and they will live here," he said.

"Some of them will rise to the top, some will fall to the bottom, but one person will walk away with an enormous cash price.

"It’s on Channel 4 very soon. That is all I’m allowed to say! But what I can say is it will be good, and I’d like you all to watch. Thank you."
